We’re thrilled to announce that the Alison North New Professionals Award (NPA) is now open for submissions for 2025, marking an exciting new era for this prestigious recognition of emerging talent in information management.
We’re excited to announce significant changes to the Alison North New Professionals Award (NPA) for 2025. We want to pass on our deepest thanks on behalf of all of the Society to Alison North. After founding the award in 2010 and serving as its patron since then, Alison North is stepping down. Her invaluable support has helped shape countless careers in information management.
Taking up the mantle is Scott Sammons, a former NPA winner and past Chair of the Society, with Lighthouse IG providing financial support. This transition brings fresh energy while maintaining the award’s core mission of recognizing emerging talent.
What’s Different This Year?
The most notable change is our open approach to submissions. Whether you prefer writing, speaking, or creating visual content, we welcome your ideas in any format. The prize structure and fundamental aspects of the award remain unchanged.
Who Should Apply?
- Professionals in their first three years of information/records management
- Students in related fields
- Apprentices, including those on the Level 4 DP & IG Apprenticeship
We’re looking for fresh perspectives that challenge conventional thinking in information management. Your submission could explore future trends, innovative approaches, or lessons learned from real-world experiences. This isn’t about showcasing extensive knowledge – it’s about bringing fun, new ideas to the table, a reflection of you as a new professional. The Judging Panel wants to get to know you through your submission and how you think.
Previous winners like Katherine O’Keeffe, Hannah Burling, and Jaana Pinnick have used this award as a springboard for remarkable careers in the field. Your unique viewpoint could be next to join their ranks.
Deadline: January 31, 2025 For complete details about prizes, submission guidelines, and eligibility criteria, visit www.irms.org.uk/NewProfessionals. Help us discover the next generation of information management leaders!
