Over the last few weeks Lighthouse IG and others have been working together to write an open letter/article to the Government outlining our concerns with the Bill and calling on a future Government to look at DP reform and controls on AI with industry, individuals and the profession in mind.
An experienced trainer emphasizes the importance of adapting training methods to change behavior and cater to diverse learning styles. They suggest starting with the audience’s needs, using engaging content with real-life examples, delivering confidently, and soliciting feedback for improvement. Lighthouse IG supports engaging, inclusive training to maximize knowledge and skills.
So what is the point of a privacy notice? Issuing a ‘legal notice’ to a data subject as required under the law? Or, is it instead just a method of transparency? As you can imagine, I choose the latter!
But then the ICO taking RM seriously is a pipe dream, so maybe I’m just shouting into the abyss. Who knows!
A DP/IG professional will be one of the most resilient, patient and valuable employees you’ll ever have. We clear up organisational messes, we counsel and support staff, we see all areas of the organisation, we ‘get’ data and the impact it can have (good or bad) and many of us do all this on a shoestring budget.
It will be interesting to see how the Bill progresses through Parliament. Once we know a little more concrete information, I’ll reassess and decide if a change in career is in order.
